Retro Glam Nail Art Tutorial

I was browsing on the Teen Vogue website and this particular post really caught my eye and I thought I should share with you all. Isn’t it fabulous! I have to try this one day. The process is listed below:

What you’ll need:
1. Six small crystals (three per hand)
2. Chunky loose gold glitter
3. Nail glue
4. Orly Instant Artist Nail Striper Brush in Jet Black
5. Essie Nail Polish in French Affair
6. Glitter nail polish
7. Seche-Vite top coat
8. Toothpick
9. Tweezers
Step 1: Prep Nails
Prepare your nails by cleaning and shaping them. This particular design looks great on a short, rounded nail. Once your nails are prepped, use Orly Instant Artist to outline the nail with a thin, steady line of black all along the edge of the cuticle.  Keep one of your nails blank if you’d like to add glitter to it later. 

Step 2: Paint and Repeat
Paint inside the black outline of your nail with Essie’s French Affair. Start from the cuticle and pull the brush towards the edge of your nail. You will need two coats. You can use any color for this step, but make sure the one you choose is even and opaque.

Step 3: Add some Sparkle
Paint your ring finger (or whichever finger you’ve left blank for glittering) with a thin layer of glitter polish. It doesn’t matter which glitter polish you use—it’ll provide a base for the loose glitter to adhere to. 

Step 4: More Glitter!
Drop the loose glitter onto your nail while the polish is wet. You can then apply a quick-dry top coat and continue applying loose glitter to any empty areas.

Step 5: Clean it Up
Apply top coat again and fill in any remaining empty spots with individual pieces of glitter. You can use a thin dampened paintbrush or a toothpick to pick up the glitter. 

Step 6: Attach Crystals
Glue three crystals on top of your glittery nail using nail glue. You can pick the crystals up with a pair of tweezers. 

Add a final application of top coat, and you’re finished!
